King of the Beach
Tuesdays at Houston Sportsplex 7-9:30
"KOB/QOB is not about finding who the best player is, it is about finding who the best teammate is..."
KOB (King of the Beach)
QOB (Queen of the Beach)
Pool play followed by bracket play. Pools of 4 play a single game to 21 with everyone in their pool, pools of 5 play a single game to 17 with everyone in their pool.* Seeding is done and bracket rank is established by Wins/Losses then Point Differential. Bracket pools play the same as pool play.
Games are "Best of # points". So pools of 4 would play best of 15 points. IE game score would look like 8-7, 10-5, 15-0. Pools of 5 would play best of 11 points.
This is a "No Hands" KOB - Standard format. No hand setting is allowed. Everything else remains as if it were a Standard KOB.
*All ties are broken with the standard KOB tie breaker.
The tie breaker is played with maximum of 8 rallies between the two tied players, taking into account all possibilities of side and partnerships. Only the tied players take turns serving the ball. Assuming Players A and B are tied, with C and D not tied, the combinations are:
1. A+C vs B+D (player A serves)
2. A+C vs B+D (player B serves)
3. A+D vs B+C (player A serves)
4. A+D vs B+C (player B serves)
Change sides, and repeat.
If a player reaches 5 points, they have won, and the tie is broken.
